Power of City Festival and Destination Marketing in ICC Tainan Warming up for the 2024 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Tainan and 400 Years of Tainan

In 1624, the Dutch East India Company came to Anping, Tainan, during the Age of Discovery, and “ Taoyuan” (the ancient name of Anping) appeared on the global stage for the first time, starting 400 years of Taiwan’s world trade history. There is an old saying that “Fucheng is first, Lukang second, and Manka third”, referring to the early important cities/ports of Taiwan. Fucheng (the ancient name of Tainan) was the cultural capital of Taiwan, and now Tainan is a core part of the world’s semiconductor industry chain and a development leader of green energy and smart technologies. With migrations of immigrants of diverse backgrounds arriving in Tainan, multiple cultures have coexisted in this temperate part of Taiwan, nurturing a vibrant and colorful culture. To promote international art exchanges and warm up for next year's Power of City Festival, the International Convention Center Tainan hosted a Power of City Festival and Destination Marketing forum on February 21, enabling technology artists and curators from home and abroad to explore possibilities for collaboration through the sharing of curatorial experiences and business exchanges.Mariano Leotta shared his experience in Montreal, Canada's "design capital", where the public sector invests in the arts and culture industry and reinvests profits to form a beneficial cycle. Mr. Hsin-Chien Huang  mentioned the idea of “liquid digital media”, in which new art technologies, such as VR, AR, projection mapping, and other immersive content, flow into different fields like liquid, and through the fusion of different art technologies, they grow into a richer ecosystem. Marin Petkov concluded, “Thanks for the opportunity to come to Taiwan to share the experience of the Berlin Lantern Festival, and I look forward to a wonderful performance of the 2024 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Tainan."CEO of ICC Tainan, Mr. Tai-Min Yeh stated, “Since the opening of ICC Tainan in April last year, ‘Island Trade, World Tainan’ has been our motto. We aim to dedicate ourselves to linking the city’s marketing and MICE industries with international resources. ICC Tainan will be the main site of the 2024 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Tainan, which will feature green energy technologies and combine the deep culture that has been developed in Tainan over the past 400 years. ICC Tainan is looking forward to transforming the city with MICE and making Fucheng a better city."Source: yam news
